Sailing with Nina and Kristine to Port Jefferson, Long Island
June 12-14, 2011 - Nina Anderson, my childhood friend and expert sailor, who now lives in Sheffield MA, brought her friend, Kristine Bahr, for a sail to Port Jefferson, Long Island. We had light winds for our 25 mile trip, and anchored in the outer harbor which had once been a sand quarry.
That night we had dinner ashore and walked around the tourist town of Port Jefferson. Next day we took a long walk exploring the rural headlands and picturesque beach. After a relaxing afternoon aboard and wonderful dinner, we returned the following day, with Nina taking expert charge of the navigation. We arranged that she would join me for my delivery sail north from Boston to Maine a few weeks later.
